Oliver G. Richard

LSU alumnus Oliver G. "Rick" Richard, chairman of CleanFUEL USA, will be the guest speaker for the Energy Leadership Speaker Series, hosted by the Center for Energy Studies, Tuesday, December 2, at 3 p.m. in the Woods Auditorium of the Energy, Coast & Environment Building. Richard will share experience and insights gained from his career in the energy industry. The event is free and open to the public, but RSVP is requested. A brief reception will follow the discussion.

Currently chairman of the board for CleanFUEL USA, an alternative energy company based in Georgetown, Texas, Richard is a 1974 graduate of the Manship School and a 1977 graduate of the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. He earned a Master of Law degree in Taxation from Georgetown University.

In 1982, Richard was confirmed by President Reagan as a member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, becoming the youngest commissioner in the history of the organization. Following his tenure at FERC, he served as chairman, president and CEO of Columbia Energy Group, a Fortune 500 company. He was also chairman and CEO of New Jersey Resources and Northern Natural Gas Pipeline.
