Unconventional Louisiana: Shales, Sands, and Other Opportunities

As part of its legislatively mandated mission to investigate, describe, and map the geology of the state, the Louisiana Geological Survey has published two documents in its new State Parks and Lands publication series, as well as two new geologic maps of south Louisiana’s delta plain.

Louisiana Geological Survey has published its 2011 Publication Catalog.  Maps, atlases, and geological reports are available for order. 

Louisiana Geological Survey director Chacko John, lead author of a 1997 Basin Research Institute report on the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale formation, was quoted in an article on recent leasing activity in central Louisiana.
